Laser Peel

A laser peel is a relatively mild treatment used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin (the epidermis) while keeping the deep layers (the dermis) intact. This allows for a very minor and short downtime after the procedure. Laser peels are an effective treatment used primarily to address superficial pigmentation, fine lines, and texture issues. Removing the outer layers of the skin allows the skin to reveal a new youthful layer.

Laser peels are also commonly referred to as laser skin resurfacing, laser vaporization, and lasabrasion. At Laser Aesthetics of Colorado, we tailor a unique treatment plan for each of our Centennial laser peel patients depending on their desires and guide them through each step of the process.

Candidates for Laser Peels

  • Patients with damaged skin, particularly sun damage, that causes wrinkles around the eyes and mouth
  • Patients with reduced skin laxity on the face, especially on the eyelids
  • Patients seeking removal of their scars, brown spots or general skin blotchiness

About Laser Peels

Laser peels are an especially popular treatment because they can provide smoother skin and tighter skin in the treated area with just one treatment. The results are considered long-lasting, and in some cases can permanently remove irregularities of the skin. Risks associated with laser peels can be minimized during the consultation phase by disclosing any allergies or skin conditions that could react adversely to the treatment.

How Laser Peels are Performed

A laser peel achieves its desired result by damaging the upper layers of the skin with high intensity light. The subsequent healing process replaces the previously damaged skin cells with new tissue, creating a rejuvenated, younger appearance. Depending on the skin irregularity, the handheld device used to perform the treatment is set to affect tissue at varying depths.

There are three different laser techniques that can be used to perform a laser peel” ablative lasers, nonablative lasers and fractional lasers. At Laser Aesthetics of Colorado, we ensure each of our Centennial laser peel patients experiences the best possible result by using the best tool for the job. Each laser is discussed during the consultation process before a treatment plan is decided.
