Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a versatile procedure that improves the appearance of the skin by gently removing the top layer of skin cells to reveal new tissue beneath while stimulating additional collagen growth. The new tissue beneath the dead skin cells is smoother and younger looking, resulting in a revitalized appearance. Microdermabrasion is commonly used to combat blemishes, fine lines, wrinkles and blotchiness. Microdermabrasion also facilitates better results when using moisturizers and lotions, as the new, healthier skin is more receptive to topical treatments.

At Laser Aesthetics of Colorado, our Centennial microdermabrasion patients report no pain during or after the treatment, and there are very few risks associated with the treatment.

Candidates for Microdermabrasion

  • Patients seeking a more youthful appearance to their face without undergoing an invasive procedure
  • Patients with clogged pores or recurring issues with blackheads and whiteheads
  • Patients wanting a long-term solution for healthier skin

About Microdermabrasion

The results of microdermabrasion are immediate and there are absolutely no downtime, long-term side effects or pain associated with the treatment. Microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of many skin irregularities including scars, sun spots and fine lines, and the best results are seen after routine treatments. Occasionally, microdermabrasion patients can experience minor sensitivity to the sun after treatment, but the sensitivity soon eases.

How Microdermabrasion is Performed

There are two main types of microdermabrasion: crystal microdermabrasion and diamond-tip microdermabrasion. Crystal microdermabrasion involves a handheld device that emits crystals onto the skin, creating a mildly abrasive process that polishes the surface of the skin. The dead tissue is immediately removed from the area and the new tissue is revealed beneath.

Diamond-tip microdermabrasion uses a handpiece that contacts the skin and gently exfoliates the surface. Generally, diamond-tip microdermabrasion is used for patients seeking treatment close to the eyes.

No matter their desires, our Centennial microdermabrasion patients experience the rejuvenating results they’re looking for after regular microdermabrasion treatments.
